STUN THE SUN! How To Stay Fit In Indian Summers?
Does this summer season means sleepy morning, lazy afternoon (only workout is to flip the channels) and tiresome evenings? Are you scared to even think going outdoors to walk or don’t have energy left by evening to hit the gym? Don’t let the sun take a toll on your health this season and follow these simple rules this summer and stay fit!
Hydrate frequently: It doesn’t have to be boring as simple water, twist the taste by including water in the form of various beverages like iced green tea, whey water, buttermilk, fresh coconut water and fresh fruit juices.
Salt, sugar & lemon: Sweating means loss of body fluids along with body electrolytes. Have a drink of salt, sugar and lemon water to counter the effect of profuse sweating.
Add enough vitamin C to your diet: Eat plenty of fresh citrus fruits, sprouted pulses and fermented cereals to stay healthy and avoid general flu attacks.
Curd/yogurt is your best friend this summer: Eating street foods this summer may lead to frequent infections & diarrhoea. Having curd/yogurt is the best cure and to make your digestion and body strong to fight these infections.
Jazz up fitness routine: Scorching summer is not an excuse anymore to skip exercise, groove and shake your way to the gym either early in the morning or late evening to avoid the heat.
Avoid unnecessary sugar: Cut down on cold drinks, sweetened fruit juices, beverages as they add to unnecessary calories. Rather opt for fresh juices and beverages without added sugar.
Avoid caffeinated drinks: Cut down on the caffeinated drinks (tea, coffee, energy drinks and cold-drinks) as they squeeze away unnecessary water from your body making you sluggish and dehydrated.
Don’t invite unnecessary infections: Avoid suspicious food joints, places serving food in unhygienic conditions, undercooked non vegetarian food this summer.
